The supplies status page on the HP LaserJet 4000, 4050, and 4100 shows how much toner is left in the cartridge, as well as how much longer the maintenance kit (consisting mainly of the fuser and the transfer roller) will last before it should be replaced. This page will also list the printer's page count and serial number, and the part numbers for both the toner cartridge and the maintenance kit.
To print the supplies status page from a LaserJet 4000, 4050, or 4100 printer:
- On the printer's operation panel, press down on the right side of the curved Menu button. "INFORMATION MENU" will appear on the screen.
- Scroll through the menu choices by pressing down on the right side of the Item button until "PRINT SUPPLIES STATUS" is displayed on the screen.
- Press the Select button.

On the 4050 I'm at, there is no Print Supplies Status; you can see the gauge from the Configuration Page. I tried various ways to get to it, even the web access, but getting to that page isn't supported from a Mac, and on a PC it connects to the printer, but all you see is the HP logo and a white block where the data should be. Tried updating Java, but that didn't help, either. Didn't matter what browser I was in.
ReplyDeleteWeird. Do you know if the firmware is up to date? It's possible older firmware didn't support a supplies status page, and it was only added in later.
