To obtain the page count (also called the meter reading) from a Brother HL-6050 printer, follow the steps below. This procedure also applies to the HL-6050D and the HL-6050DN models.
- When the machine is on and ready to print, press any of the following keys to bring up the menu: Set, Back, +, or -.
- The first menu heading that appears is Information; press Set to select it.
- Use the + or - keys to scroll through the Information menu until you see Maintenance.
- Press Set to select it.
- The first option that you'll see is Page Counter; press Set to view the count.
The number of pages printed so far will appear on the screen. Once you've seen or recorded this number, keep pressing the Back key until you're at the Ready screen again.
If you would rather have a printout with the page count on it, you can get that instead by simply pressing the Set button three times from the Ready screen. The first time you press it you'll bring up the menus, the second time you'll select the Information menu, and the third time you'll select Print Settings. When you choose Print Settings, three pages of information will print out, showing supply usage, jam counters, and machine settings. On the second page, about halfway down the page under the <Device Status> heading, you'll see the page count. Beneath the page count, you can also find the number of pages printed from each paper tray, as well as the page count broken down by paper size (for example, letter-size paper, legal-size paper, or envelopes).
